I have started my Bible study on Tuesdays with the ladies at Servants Baptist Church in Camden, NY, where Bob and I are filling in for missionaries Tom and Carol Phillips. Psalm 101 was last week’s, and it was called David’s New Year’s Resolutions. My big word for this study was Choices for the new year. David had chosen to SING of God’s MERCY and JUDGMENT. We touched on the meaning of those two words as it relates to us and the coming year. The choices or resolutions that David made were to honor his Lord, and they would improve his life, his family life and the ruling of a nation.
DAVID’S NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS:
I will sing of your mercy and judgment, O Lord. (verse 1)
I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. (verse 2)
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. (verse 2)
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes; it will not cleave to me. (verse 3)
A froward (stubbornly contrary and disobedient ) heart shall depart from me. (verse 4)
I will not know a wicked person. (verse 4)
I will not be a companion of slanderers, gossips or a proud-hearted person. (verse 5)
I will look upon faithful people who walk perfectly and have them surround me. (verse 6)
He that is deceitful or tells lies will not dwell in my house or in my sight. (verse 7)
I purchased for each lady a wine glass (wait, let me finish!!) because we made tea lights with a vellum paper shade, as seen on Pinterest. It was not expensive, and it was really cute!
Perhaps you should consider adopting some (or all!) of David’s New Year’s Resolutions!
With much love,
