Merry Christmas from Scott and Marti Owen
We are grateful for a year of serving our Lord! Part of our ministry is to come alongside churches that are in pastoral transition. God allowed us to spend several Sundays (thru April) travelling 90 minutes to minister at First Baptist of Monroe. It was a joy to attend and share a BCP display table at the Faith Baptist Bible College Refresh Conference in Ankeny, Iowa. We also reverted to our teen ministry days to serve as counselors for our home church (Prairie Flower Baptist) at a winter retreat. A quick trip to visit one of our supporting churches in MN. (Calvary of Rochester) was an added blessing.
Our trip to Ohio for BCP’s semi-annual meetings took us out east. We then went west for a fun trip out to the Rocky Mountain Association of Regular Baptists where Scott taught at their annual meetings.
A late anniversary trip involved the purchase of an older used slide in camper for our pickup that was used for a camping trip through Missouri to see some sights: Branson, The Engle Wilder home, Bakers Creek Seeds and Missionary Acres.
Scott reported to the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist annual conference hosted by our sending church – CrossRoad Baptist of Ames, Iowa.
Summer service opportunities started with Scott teaching at the School of Church Planting module on Church Revitalization (FBBC in Ankeny). This gave more time for us to spend with our Iowa grandson!
We went even further west to represent BCP at the National Regular Baptist Ministries conference in Oregon. This was our first time to that beautiful section of our country. We got stranded in Denver on our way back, but our Denver family was in Spain, but God provided the Stropes (RBM National Representative) to help us navigate that crisis.
Scott taught at a Leadership Journey retreat hosted by First Baptist of Creston, Iowa and led a workshop at the Men’s Revive retreat in Clear Lake Iowa.
September included another trip to Ohio for BCP meetings where we rejoiced in the appointment of two new missionary couples!
Yet another trip out west! Scott flew to California (San Francisco area) to encourage BCP missionaries and connect with their pastor friends. Scott was also able to stop in Denver to see some grandkids and spend some time Bowling in Boise with our son, TJ. Marti spoke at a ladies retreat hosted by Calvary Baptist of Quincy, Illinois.
The fall also included three Leadership Journey retreats in Iowa, (Mason City, Ankeny and Muscatine). Scott also had the opportunity to share at TGX conference (Soteria Church in Des Moines, Iowa) and the Global Reach (missions) conference at FBBC in Ankeny. Marti started two Grove Studies (ladies discipleship) this fall – Fullerton, NE and Harlan, IA.
Scott’s mom was diagnosed with cancer on October 6 and passed away three weeks after her 97th Birthday on November 30. Her celebration of life was December 16th. We also enjoyed visits from our girls and worked on the front porch project.
We are humbled to serve, and we appreciate so much those individuals that pray for us, invest in our ministry and join us in serving.
