Ministry Update

Steve and Kristen Wynn

Associate Church Revitalizers, Smyrna, NY

February 2025

Hello Prayer Partners!

Our youth group has been attending Circle C Ranch’s Snow Camp for the past three years. It’s now our most anticipated annual event. The kids talk about it year round. You can watch the highlight video on the camp’s Facebook page by clicking here. You’ll quickly see why they look forward to it – the games and activities are a blast!

As youth leaders, we’ve been praying for and encouraging our teens to invite their friends to youth group. This year our prayers have been answered in a huge way! On a regular basis, we have over 30 teens show up – many of which are unchurched kids. As we were preparing for Snow Camp, we were praying that many of these teens would come. We ended up with 25 teens for the weekend!

In the midst of the blowing snow and cold temperatures, the gospel was presented clearly and seven of our teens proclaimed faith in Christ! While we’re thrilled and rejoicing, just imagine the rejoicing in heaven! We also had two of our teens repent of sin in their lives, and express a desire to obey Christ. God is moving in His church!

But the work isn’t done – we’re now busier than ever. Each of these teens needs to be discipled! The youth leaders have developed a plan to ensure they get to know Jesus better, understand what they’ve proclaimed, and grow in their new faith. Continue to pray for us, that these spiritual children will grow and that the Spirit would work mightily in their lives!

“Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Luke 15:10

What’s in progress?

Deacon Hank Vanderwal shared the gospel and his testimony of how Jesus saved him. We completed our sermon series “Five Lessons from Galatians” in February with deacon Linn White preaching on confronting sin from Galatians 6:1-10. Progress is being made in the parsonage as the trustees work to make changes to the home’s layout and update the kitchen.

On February 23, the church family of West Smyrna met to recap the transition plan. We have served alongside the church for four months working diligently to help them prepare for their next pastor. The meeting was a time of rejoicing over what the Lord has done and laying out the vision for what could come next.

Our steering committee (with representatives from West Smyrna Baptist Church, Faith Baptist Tabernacle, and Baptist Church Planters) developed a one-year revitalization plan. This plan is briefly outlined in the following two images. We will be expanding upon work begun in the transition timeline and adding more intentional discipleship opportunities in the coming year. Our desire is to equip the church to be making disciples and sharing the hope of the gospel with the community, while building upon the work that is already in progress.

We will spend the month of August evaluating all aspects of ministry in the church and develop action plans for the last leg of the partnership. The plan includes a gray-scale exit. Depending on where the church is a year from now will determine how our family will conclude ministry and prepare for our next placement.

Praise the Lord, the church family voted in favor of continuing forward in partnership! So we begin our revitalization plan on March 1. We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to be with this loving church family for another year.

Homeschool has been fun! Our homeschool book club met to discuss the novel “Pride and Prejudice.” London and Calvin have loved their Science unit on the solar system. Here they are with their solar system models. Lest the kids and Kristen have all the fun, Steve attended NFIBC’s Rise Up men’s conference. The pastors’ workshops were great!

Of course, February means Valentine’s Day! Kristen made the kids a delicious breakfast full of surprises. Steve and Kristen were able to go out for a nice meal at the Cheesecake Factory. London had fun volunteering during the Smyrna Firehouse’s auction fundraiser.

Our Mission Statement:

Through the grace of God and His word, the redemptive works of Christ, and the sanctifying efforts of the Holy Spirit, we encourage and equip the body of Christ in order to ensure its members, both near and far, are enduring in the lifelong work of glorifying God and discipling faithful men and women who will be entrusted to continue this work until our Lord and Savior returns.

We are passionate for the local church. We desire to see churches disciple their members to grow in adoring Him, loving one another, sharing the hope of the gospel, and living transformed lives.

Thank you,
