Ministry Update

Steve and Kristen Wynn

Associate Church Revitalizers, Smyrna, NY

April 2025

Hello Prayer Partners!

As I (Steve) sit here typing this newsletter, I am preparing for an exciting weekend at Camp Bayouca. This Friday and Saturday is our Camp ReCharge event. I have been planning the event with Brian King of the Northeast Fellowship and Josh Rathmall, Pastor of Faith Bible Church in Oxford, NY. We’re anticipating over 100 teens, along with youth leaders, this weekend.

I’m praising God for the teens that are attending this event. We have unsaved kids attending from our youth group as well as those who recently expressed faith in Christ in February. How wonderful that they’ll hear the gospel preached and be challenged through the workshops! As well, it’s going to be a blast with all of the fun activities and games we have planned for the weekend.

Join me and our churches in praying for this event. May the Spirit move mightily through the Word preached! How blessed it would be to rejoice with more sinners who find salvation in His overwhelming grace!

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9

What’s in progress?

We’re busting at the seams! We have Foundations classes meeting in classrooms, the fellowship hall, sanctuary stage, and balcony.

We’re in our second month of revitalization at West Smyrna Baptist Church. Join us in praising the Lord for all He is accomplishing in His church:

  • We have completed the church’s pastoral search portfolio and have shared it with a number of partnering organizations and pastors. You can view the electronic portfolio by clicking here. Contact me if you know of a man interested in learning more about WSBC!
  • We began our Foundations Study on April 6. We have 34 adults (and growing!) in this discipleship study. That is almost a 50% increase for our Sunday School participation.
  • Fellow BCP missionaries Marty & Susan Basinger will join us on May 4 to launch a Celebration of Prayer initiative!
  • We’re two weeks away from concluding our sermon series, “God’s Design for the Church.” Next we will be in the book of James.
  • The church’s annual meeting is on May 4. The reports are full of thanksgivings from the Lord’s acts of kindness over the past year. Some of our new standard operating procedures will be implemented.

The Ashcraft’s joined the Tuesday small group. While we had to move our egg hunt inside – it was still a lot of fun!

Some praises with Faith Baptist Tabernacle:

  • We are rejoicing that our new associate pastor, Patrick Ashcraft, and his family (Hannah and their three sons) are in Sherburne! They moved into their new home on April 26. The family is already getting integrated into FBT. Pictured above you can see the boys joined in with the egg hunt for one of the church’s small groups.
  • Our youth group continues to grow! For Camp ReCharge, we will have 25 teens attending.
  • Our teen praise band is ready for Camp ReCharge, where they will lead worship for two of the three main sessions.

Keep praying for our youth group. We consistently have about 35 teens each week and we’re endeavoring to be intentional with each one in discipleship!

Vacation

Our family was blessed to have a vacation this month. It’s been a while since we’ve traveled to visit family and friends in Ohio and Tennessee! Many thanks to the church family at WSBC. The deacons preached while I was away and ensured the ministry of the church continued forward!

Here we are with dear friends in the Cedarville area. We visited Kristen’s aunt and cousin, plus her 96 year old grandfather, who live in Circleville.

After a few days in Ohio, we continued on to Tennessee to see Kristen’s parents. We had a fun-packed stay with them, including a Crowder concert on Good Friday and joining them on Resurrection Sunday at their church. As we began our voyage back home, we stopped in Kentucky to visit the Ark Encounter. The trip went hand-in-hand with our homeschool science lessons this year. What a great reminder of our God’s mercy!

Our Mission Statement:

Through the grace of God and His word, the redemptive works of Christ, and the sanctifying efforts of the Holy Spirit, we encourage and equip the body of Christ in order to ensure its members, both near and far, are enduring in the lifelong work of glorifying God and discipling faithful men and women who will be entrusted to continue this work until our Lord and Savior returns.

We are passionate for the local church. We desire to see churches disciple their members to grow in adoring Him, loving one another, sharing the hope of the gospel, and living transformed lives.

Thank you,
