Ministry Update
Jim and Janice Mitchell
Grace Fellowship Church, Preston, ID
May 2024
Dear Prayer Partners,
Update – 5/2
Thank you for your ongoing prayer support.
Brian’s house is under contract for sale so that is a big praise, now he and his family must find a house in Preston to continue transitioning.
Stephen and Janelle are at 38% support and with the mission’s help Stephen will be able to go to part-time work and have more time to pursue support and ministry.
Janice had knee surgery and is recovering well but she has a three to four month rehab time.
I have met three times with Marco, an unbeliever who is going through divorce and attending our church. He has been asking questions about the gospel.
You have a key part in all of this through your prayers!
Update – 5/8
Some have asked about Janice’s surgery. It was knee surgery for meniscus repair because she had a total root tear. It is one of the worst knee surgeries because of the long recovery. She is three weeks into a 3-6 month recovery. She is faithfully going to PT twice a week.
Soon after the last email Brian was able to sign a contract on a house in Preston. There is a contingency on it but if everything works out, they should be moving over early in June. PTL
The mission has asked me to consider staying here for a while after this transition because the need in this area for a strong church and new churches is great. As I have told you before this is one of the least churched areas in the US with only .01% in the area claiming to be evangelical. This will mean that we will have to raise more support since our support from Grace will be needed to go toward trying to support Brian.
Another ongoing need here is to have our own building. Since buildings are not available, building our own would be our next option. That necessitates buying land which is also hard to find. There is a ten acre piece in a good location but the owner won’t subdivide it. Therefore we need an investor to buy the commercial property and subdivide part of it for a church. It is about $100,000 an acre so it is out of our reach, but God knows who could afford it. Please pray with us about this.
Thanks again for your prayers,
