Ministry Update

Miguel and Ana Quintana

Iglesia Bautista under Starkey Road Baptist Church, Seminole, FL

May 2024

Dear Friends,

Thank you very much for your prayers and support in advancing the church planting mission in Seminole, Florida. We have a lot to tell you, these months of this year have been very active at the service of the house of the Lord, to glorify the Lord in the ministry.

On Sundays we have our service in Spanish open to the Hispanic community at 10:30 AM and on Wednesday’s evening we have prayer meeting at 7:00 pm. We pray together and having discipleship studies.

God’s blessing was that we had the budget approved after having our annual membership meeting at the end of January. We presented to the members the slides of everything God helped us accomplish in the year 2023. Two new deacons and a committee of ladies were elected by assembly vote to help with hospitality and church events. With joy we have received the support of our son in the missions, Jonathan and his wife Abigail have been helping us with the children and adolescents at church. To help our children with teaching materials, we had to get tables, chairs, and materials in Spanish for Sunday school.

Every month I have a meeting with the deacons, and they have been a great ministerial support. Currently, they are Donald, José, Jaime, Carlos, Ezequiel, and my son Jonathan, who is also helping to teach on Wednesdays with discipleship on the topic of stewardship. The next topic will be evangelism and will be taught by deacon Miguel Serra. We thank God, who gives us men serving in the church and growing as leaders. On Thursdays I have intentional leadership every Thursday to provide training to the servers.

In March, we traveled to Colombia to visit my mother who has several health problems. I had the opportunity to accompany her to the medical visits and the biopsy they did. The difficult diagnosis for her due to the great pain she is feeling is facial cancer, in addition to heart problems. The weather was nice and we visited my wife’s family who lives in Bogotá. As usual, we take advantage of every opportunity to present the gospel to those who still do not know the plan of salvation, in addition to shepherding families who are already Christians, motivating them to prepare themselves by studying the Word of God because we are living in times of much apostasy.

The ministry in the Pinellas prison has been a great blessing, I am bringing the Service in Spanish to the prisoners, and many of them have been converted after announcing the good news of salvation to them. Eleven of them received Jesus. Thank God for giving me health and disposition in each service, where usually 30 to 40 prisoners come voluntarily on Thursday mornings.

Edgardo and Patricia who are with me receiving discipleship every Wednesday at 6:00 pm, as well as other new believers like Heidi, Thomas, Valeska, Pavel, Martha, who also need our attention. We dedicate time to encourage them with the word of God, discipleship & counseling.
