Ministry Update

Jim and Janice Mitchell

Grace Fellowship Church, Preston, ID

July 2023

Dear Prayer Partners,

This weekend is rodeo weekend in Preston. A big influx of people come to town to enjoy the rodeo, the carnival and take advantage of the food court and street vendors. Our church has had a Lemonade stand for several years as a way of connecting with the community and raising youth funds. Many look forward to visiting our stand for fresh squeezed lemonade. This year we have decided to give our normally $3 a cup lemonade away for free. We want to communicate a couple of things by doing this. First, we want our lemonade to symbolize grace which is free. Second, we don’t want anyone to think that we need the community’s money to sustain our church. God’s grace is more than sufficient to supply all of our needs.

We will also have a float in the parade 3 nights in a row. This year it will picture the temptation of sin in the garden and the need for a Savior.

Please pray God will use our feeble efforts to further the message of the true gospel in a place overrun with religion. God continues to do “God things” here demonstrating His faithful love. Your prayers are vital!

Rodeo Weekend Update:
Thank you for your prayers concerning our Rodeo weekend. Giving the lemonade away was a real joy. The fact that it was free changed the whole tone of the conversations. People were much more receptive to conversation and we had some good discussions with people about grace and our church. We gave away between 600-700 cups of lemonade right at the front door of our church building.
The float also went well, we have a parade all three nights. People rode the float while others walked alongside it giving out tracts and candy. We fully believe some will be coming to church as a result of this outreach.
We met one family that was new to the area and looking for a church. I also talked with a young family that felt unaccepted by the Mormon church even though they were raised Mormon. The woman had come to our church 15 years ago as a young teen and was trying to convince her husband to come to our church. We are praying for God to work through the many connections we had to His glory.
Next week we have VBS and then two weeks later we will have the lemonade stand again at the county fair which is also in Preston.

Thanks for praying!
