Spring 2026

Family update:

Fresh sunshine, bright bursts of colorful flowers, warm breezes, and gentle rains have come with the arrival of spring and are greatly enjoyed after the extremes of winter weather. Paul (4) and Leroy (3) spend every minute they can outside, toes dug in the dirt, riding bikes, rolling in the fresh soft grass. With this new season also comes the excitement of being close to completing the current jobsite! We anticipate another month or two till we check off the final inspection. The hard part is knowing this will also bring another goodbye to the people of Bible Baptist Church that we have grown to love and care for as we have walked alongside them since September.

Birthdays/anniversary

  • Jimmy and Abby   05/09/2020
  • Jimmy-09/15
  • Abby-05/12
  • Paul- 6/16 (5th birthday this year)
  • Leroy 11/16 (4th birthday this year)

In February, Jimmy and I were given the opportunity to go to a marriage retreat, providing sweet encouragement in our walk with God and each other.

A mini spring break trip took us out to the Atlantic Ocean. Experiencing God’s creation with our boys has been so fun. The car might be filled with a few tons of sand and our skin rather sunburned, but it is so worth getting to show the boys more about the strength and might of our Creator.

Jobsite Update

The construction side of our ministry is coming along very well. So much has been accomplished since our last newsletter that I don’t even have room to write it all here! Paint is up over the finished drywalled walls, the trim has gone up on doors and windows, tiles are done in the kitchen/bathrooms, and even the cupboards have arrived and are installed. A few ways we have seen God’s provision for this church body on the jobsite: A company that donated 34 pallets of dirt, and many individuals have lent us pieces of machinery (backhoe, roller, mini skidsteer, and telehandler to name a few) without charging rent. Seeing those from the community reach out and pour into this church build has been exciting!

We have also been encouraged with some volunteer groups that came and invested their time and energy: 4 men from Breesport Baptist church came in December and installed so much insulation, then a larger crew also from Breesport came in March putting up doorframes and setting up the carport.  In January, Elyria Baptist Church (which was our first jobsite as a married couple) sent a crew and helped conquer over half of the drywall installation.

The anticipation is building for occupancy to occur in the next month(ish).

Bible Baptist Church, Quakertown, PA

Hot off the press!

We have been waiting for leadership to work out the details for our next location, and we are thrilled to have that information to share! We anticipate being done here in Quakertown, PA, by the end of May, and our next move will be to Charles City, IA, for part of the summer.
After the Howards presented their ministry at Lighthouse Baptist Church, God has been at work particularly in the heart of one couple. Please pray with us for this couple as they are considering joining ChurchCare as missionary builders. Excited for what God has next!

Abby’s Corner

As I sit down to write out a morsel of wisdom for my little corner, I find my brain blank. But that is okay! This moment is just another reminder of my need to seek God’s wisdom thru each day. In fact, we found ourselves walking out our need for God’s wisdom and guidance in a very real way in front of the boys as we searched for a new-to-us car. We took Jimmy’s day off work and drove all around to check out cars we had researched online. Those of you that had done this before know how exhausting this can be, all the more so with two little boys. Yet after each car inspection and when making the final decision, we would pray as a family together for wisdom, setting an example to Paul and Leroy that their parents absolutely need God in every aspect of life (James 1:5).  And we are thankful for God’s grace as we did indeed find a good car in time for the next season of travel.

Prayer

  • Please pray for continued longevity for our trailer and truck. There have been some issues with each of our vehicles wearing out (due to age or manufacturing error) and we are not yet ready to invest in replacements.
  • Wisdom for those in charge of deciding our next location.
  • Continual prayer for the salvation of our boys. Paul is asking more and more questions as he seeks to understand what we are showing him from the Bible.
  • Preparation for our hearts for the next body of believers we will get to join in ministry.

Praise

  • We have had minimal injuries on the jobsite!
  • Opportunities to minister to the deaf thru this church
  • Beautiful weather in time for outdoor work
  • So very thankful for the sweet relationships built during our time in Quakertown, PA.

We are praying for our partners in ministry the Howards as Michele’s dad, Terry Carroll, passed away April 12th. This news came on the heels of our celebration of Resurrection Sunday and focusing on the victory Christ has over death! What hope to know these goodbyes are temporary, sad for just a while, then joy for eternity! Please keep the Howards in your prayers as well.
