Hello Prayer Partners!
This September our family will celebrate five years of ministry with Baptist Church Planters! It is incredible to think this all began years ago when we lived in Ohio. Steve attended a conference and the speaker encouraged the crowd to take a piece of clay and write the Scripture that came to mind after a time of prayer and reflection. The words of Isaiah were clear that day, “Here am I. Send me!” It took a number of years to fully discern that calling, but our hearts’ desire remains the same – we want to be used by our Lord to build His Kingdom!
As you’ll see in this newsletter, our family is preparing for a period of rest and reflection. We’ve been running hard these past five years and desire to be ready for all the Lord brings next!
What’s in progress?
West Smyrna Baptist Church
- Steve and Pastor Judah made an exciting announcement on Sunday: Tom and Shari Taylor have completed the pastoral preparation plan! They will complete their current missionary ministry at Bible Baptist Church in July and then will seek out full-time ministry. The Lord of the Harvest is so good!
- Steve continues mentoring and transitioning ministry over to Judah.
- Kristen and Steve are involved in ongoing discipleship studies and evangelistic opportunities.
- The church family will host a combined worship service with Faith Baptist Tabernacle on August 2.
- The church is preparing for a baptism service in August.
Bible Baptist Church, New Hartford
- Missionary Pastor Tom and his wife, Shari, will conclude their missionary ministry at the end of July.
- The pastoral search process development is complete and the church has begun their search.
- The steering committee continues to meet on a monthly basis.
- BBC completed the “Step B” study with Steve at the end of June.
- The church family said farewell to deacon Charles and expressed their thankfulness for his ministry. He will be getting married later this month and transitioning to his wife’s church.
- The church family voted in three new deacons. Tom is helping with the deacon onboarding. The four deacons are now Glenn, Elijah, Alex, and Dale.
- The church family is hosting a fellowship event for sister churches on July 15.
It was a pleasure to be with the Bible Baptist church family on June 7. Steve preached a message from Galatians. Here is a screenshot of the BBC/NH steering committee meeting online.
Faith Baptist Tabernacle, Sherburne
- Bittersweet was the word of the month for our sending church. We concluded children’s and teens’ ministries, said farewell to the Fischers, and celebrated our country’s 250th birthday.
- We miss the Fischers but are excited for their next adventure at Calvary Baptist in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. They have been a huge encouragement for our family!
- Steve was blessed to be able to preach at FBT on July 5. You can listen to his message on YouTube.
We had a tremendous turnout for our Sunday Night Kids’ end-of-the-year water party! Our youth group teens volunteered to help with the event. West Smyrna’s Pastor Judah and Maddi enjoyed being a part of the festivities.
Our Senior Banquet Luau and 4th-of-July Party were big hits!
Our church family said farewell to the Fischers the final weekend of June. We loaded their moving truck and had a special service for them on Saturday evening. J.’s final message, “Until We Meet Again,” was especially touching.
Homeschool 2025-26 is a wrap! The kids attended their final bookclub for the year. Steve and Kristen celebrated our anniversary on June 9 – 19 years! We’ve enjoyed watching FIFA Soccer. Steve was able to preach at FBT on July 5. Our family took a day trip to visit Chittenango Falls.

- BCP: Thank you for praying for our fellow BCP missionaries, Jim and Janice Mitchell (our pickleball friends). Jim’s faith became sight on June 19. We’re grateful that his suffering is over. Continue to pray for Janice and the family.
