Ministry Update

Wayne and Shanna Dale

Grace Baptist Church, Scottsdale, AZ

September 2023

Dear Friends and Family,

This summer was hot.  We try the mindset of reversing the seasons and imagining that this is the winter season and that likewise, you cannot spend long lengths of time outside.  The positive is that you do not have to shovel sunshine.  However, we recorded 31 days in a row of above 110-degree temps and I think we started to begin melting.  So, we limit many ministry activities to indoors.  We are thankful for individual discipleship opportunities and for our weekly bible studies that have provided good interactions.  I hope the pictures help you gain insight into some of our activities.  We often forget to take pictures because we are not from the current digital generation.

Fellow BCP missionaries from Tracy, CA came to visit us and speak at Grace.  We discussed cross-cultural ideas of reaching out to our neighbors. Wayne met with some Spanish speaking friends to discuss future potential Spanish speaking outreach opportunities.  Wayne also has a favorite coffee shop and has gotten to know the owners who are from Montenegro in Europe. The corgi is named Jax.

Shanna travelled with her mom and attended a wedding for a niece in Michigan.  She was able to meet up with her 3 siblings.  We are thankful her mom is healthy enough to travel.  In August we hosted missionaries from Sonora Mexico.  They are raising support and since the wife only speaks Spanish, it was a blessing to be able to communicate with her.  We had to say goodbye to a couple who have served faithfully for many years.  They moved to an assisted living facility further away and will be unable to continue to attend.  We are thankful for how God has directed their lives.

Jeremiah is a member of the church and met with Wayne through the summer completing his internship with Grand Canyon U.  He is not going into an occupational full-time ministry but will be well equipped to serve in the local church.  We also attended a conference in Nashville and made a Korean connection with a student and another adoptee.  We also met up with our Air Force Chaplain friend from Phoenix.

We were blessed to have the privilege to take a day trip to San Diego to perform a bilingual wedding Ceremony for our friends who wanted to start their lives together by honoring God first.  Thanks to $19 one-way tickets.

We said goodbye to our oldest daughter as she started at FBBC.  She chose her mom to drive with her and her dad to stay home with the younger kids.

Please continue to pray for provision for the increased costs from Christian School, college classes, insurance, driving, living in the city, etc.  And praise God for a new family that will be able to help with the ministry at Grace.

Thank you for your continued prayers and financial investments,

Wayne, Shanna, Rylee, Gloria, Claire, and Simon Dale
