Ulysses and Augustine Bestey – church planters serving Faith Fellowship Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO

Greetings, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I pray that all is well with you and your families. This year has flown by as graduation season and school wrapped up. It is great to witness the faithfulness of God through our children and grandchildren going on to new chapters in their lives. I love to see the end of the school year and graduation photos.

Summer is for hot weather, or on the road for road trips. Augustine and I had an opportunity to go to Sight and Sound in Branson to see the production of Esther. If you ever have an opportunity to go to the production, it would be a tremendous blessing. Please keep our family in your prayers:

Augustine just found out that her uncle passed away. He was a believer, so we know what is at the end of his journey. Thank you for your continued prayers for Mary. She is still waiting for her transplant to have a kidney. She is still in good spirits and thriving with her sickness. We praise God for her zeal and her trust in God during this difficult process. We are confident to know that everything is done in His perfect timing (Eccl.3:11). Ulysses Jr. and his family are doing well, fun and chaotic as five children under six can be. Please pray for their homeschooling process. It’s a blessing to be able to pour into their lives as grandparents. Demetrius and his family are doing good. He is keeping busy with everyone’s activities, from violin practice to piano to football. They are all growing and on the move.

At the Church, we are still getting a group of men from the City Union Mission to attend weekly. Please pray so that we can be a beacon of hope to them and be a blessing that leads them to Christ and causes those who are saved to experience a deeper walk with Christ. We have a few events that are coming, and we need prayer for VBS. We are doing a three-day study on Monday through Wednesday on Noah and the Ark, then we will take a group to see the Ark Encounter in Kentucky. We aim to show them that the Bible is not a fairytale or fiction story, but all is God’s authoritative timeless truth. We want them to see the magnitude of the structure and that if we trust in Him, our lives will be greatly enriched. We thank you for your prayers and your support over the years. We pray to see you soon and pray all is well with you.

Roy and Karen Kinney – church planters serving Pinecrest Baptist Church in Millbury, MA

PRAISE:
-The Church backlit CROSS is in and up!  It’s been a long time in the making. Delivery came out of the blue last Wednesday Evening at 11:00 PM!  It is in memory of our dear Teresa Tamburro who loved the Cross (glad that she understood that Jesus was no longer on it – in her Catholicism – and was saved).  This cross identifies our building and can be seen when getting off Interstate 90.  SO EXCITING!
-Today is our 37th Wedding ANNIVERSARY and our daughter Amelia’s 33rd birthday. Wow, God has been SO gracious to us and our family.  Who knew 5 kids, 13 Grandkids (with another on the way), 3 church rescues, and serving together would be God’s story for us?  May we grow better and stronger in the Lord in the time ahead.
PRAYER:
-Our dear friends, LARRY & NANCY VINCENT, need prayer!  Nancy is on hospice in her daughter’s home and Larry just came home from a rehab center.  These two were here keeping the church going when we first arrived as church planters.  Only 10 people including their family of 4 and they were willing to hang in there and serve anyway!  They went on to Pastor in Fitzwilliam, NH.  Pray for Bethany, Amanda, and Joni who are caring for them.
-MARY JANE injured her bad knee and mobility and driving are nearly impossible.  Pray for answers and relief.  Her other knee is scheduled for replacement in August.
-Our FILIPINO friends are passing their English exams and Nursing Exams to stay and work in our Country, but now there are work permit issues!  Please pray that their employer can work through the system to keep them here.  They are such a joy to have in our church.
-VBS is July 10-14.  We are excited to share the Kingdom of Light and the Armour of God with the Kiddos!  Be in prayer for strength and endurance that week – you know how much work it is!

Tim and Marsha Weeks – Church Facilitation Director with an emphasis on Missionary Care

All and only about Jesus: It has been a while since Tim has had the opportunity to preach to the same group of people for several weeks in a row. He has appreciated this liberty to develop a series of messages from 2 Peter. Tim recognizes like Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:5 “For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.” Then in, 2 Corinthians 4:7 “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” Finally in, 2 Corinthians 4:11 “so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.” Jesus Christ as Lord,… show that the surpassing power belongs to God,… Jesus also may be manifested  in us. Peter describes false teaching, explains the truth of the gospel as an antidote to heresy and that we should live in “holiness and godliness”(manifesting the life of Jesus). We are in awe of how God uses the proclamation of His Word still today! Remembering the Good News is all and only about Jesus.
Prayer Requests:
*Please pray for the ladies in the Grove study that are challenged with applying in real time the disciplines God is equipping them with, to do the work of the ministry.
*Please continue to pray for the Worthington’s as Rob undergoes treatments for the cancer he is fighting. They both arrived home this last Tuesday. Pray for them as they adjust to a different diet and lifestyle as Rob recovers from this treatment.
*Pray for the church family at Trinity Baptist in Muncie, that they will seek unity in the absence of their pastor. Also that Tim will be a blessing as he preaches and teaches the Word of God each Sunday and Wednesday.
*Continued prayer for our travels to Muncie twice a week and preparations for our trip West. We have the blessing of celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary on July 1.

Jim and Janice Mitchell – church planters serving Grace Fellowship Church in Preston, ID

June 30 update: We arrived back yesterday from moving Jared and family to Atlanta.  It was a long trip of 4300 miles in seven days but we had some good visits along the way.  We left Friday and were able to spend Sunday in TX where I got to go to church with my two boys.  From GA we went up to my brothers in Kentucky and we were able to visit the Ark.  We also were able to see other friends along the way.

While away we missed Church in the Park on Sunday.  It went well with 135 in attendance.  One of our younger men preached and everyone pitched together to make it a great time.  We are so thankful for the unity that God has given to our church at this time.

Scott and Marti Owen – Church Facilitation Director with a Conciliation and ITM emphasis

May and June update:
“As iron sharpens iron, So one person sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17 NASB). The Leadership Journey meetings (Scott) and the Grove Meetings (Marti) are the tools that God has used to sharpen us. These are weekly meetings where we meet to praise God, discuss disciple-making and hone leadership skills with core leaders from various churches. Most of these groups graduated in May. We are excited about coaching them this fall as they facilitate their own 24-week journeys, but for now, we miss those times of practicing the “one another” commands with them.

We utilized some “down time” to invest in each other on a five-day trip in our truck camper! Neither of us are camper people, but we thought it would be fun to explore Missouri, test our camper, and get away while the weather was still moderate.

We bought the truck camper used and were thrilled that it fit wonderfully into our truck bed! We saved money by avoiding hotel stays (and spent a bit more on fuel), but we were able to sleep in our “own” bed! We saw Branson, some other places of interest (Little House on the Prairie stuff) and met up with our friends at Missionary Acres in Silva, MO.

Upon our return we traveled to Ankeny, IA so that Scott could join Jon Jenks for a week of teaching at the School of Church Planting module on Church Revitalization (Faith Baptist Bible College). While Scott worked, Marti kept active watching our youngest grandson while his parents enjoyed an overdue getaway.

We also enjoyed trips to Scott’s childhood church, Faith Baptist of Fort Dodge, Iowa (over Mother’s Day), to Clear Lake Baptist Church, and to Bethel Baptist of Oskaloosa.

Scott enrolled in a module through Ambassadors of Reconciliation (the certifying body for Christian Conciliation) on mediating large group conflicts. It met online for 3 hours on eight consecutive Tuesday nights. One of those meetings was from the camper in an RV park.

Another blessing involved the ability to attend our home church, Prairie Flower Baptist in Washington, Iowa. Scott taught the Relational Wisdom course during successive Sunday School classes. It was great to catch up with our friends and hear our pastor preach.

We finish out June by flying to the Annual Conference for the GARBC in Oregon. We are honored to represent BCP at the conference, but also look forward to seeing the northwestern portion of our country.

Prayer Requests:

  • Churches looking for pastors
  • Churches needing revitalization
  • Recruiting more ITM interims
  • Safety on our Salem trip
  • Preparations for our fall leadership retreats

Chip and Karen Wood – Church Facilitation Director with an educational ministry emphasis

We are so very thankful for your continued prayers as we continue to help churches grow in health and vibrancy. God has truly been answering your prayers for us. In Philippians 4:17 Paul expresses the fact that the blessings that resulted from his ministry eorts were added to the account of those who enabled him to minister in that way. We not only desire that, but we actively pray for blessings upon your daily life as well.

Chip continues to meet weekly with 11 church groups. These are online meetings that work through the practical applications of biblical discipleship. We were both able to take a few days for a break as a couple as we. We finished April speaking at two churches, one in OH and the other in upstate NY.

Elizabeth and Josh are doing we. Josh is recovering from successful back surgery. Elizabeth is applying to teach in Cleveland, OH, area public school’s next fall.

Katherine is juggling Army National Guard and college at Cedarville while planning her wedding in July. She continues to excel in school and a the Guard training. Johnathon is encountering some health problems. Gabby continues to care for her mother.

Praises:

  • God continues to bless our home and ministry
  • Continually hearing how God is growing lives in our classes
  • Praise the Lord that two churches recently increased their support level, raising our overall support to 94%

Prayers:

  • Wisdom to help churches in their efforts to lead and disciple
  • Stamina for traveling the many ministry miles this year by car (last year it was 25,000)
  • Health as we greet so many people each month
  • Katherine and Micah’s wedding plans and details, along with marital counseling
  • Wisdom as to when we can move back to NY to help our parents
  • Johnathon and Gabby, as they desire to move back to NY in the fall

Jimmy and Abby Stevenson – missionary builders serving Grace Baptist Church in Canton, OH

Spring has faded away and summer is upon us already! Paul will be two on the 16th of June, Leroy 7 months. Both boys are growing, healthy and doing very well. We are thankful for these warm summer days as we get to watch Paul thrive in being outdoors and exploring God’s creation. Jimmy and I are both thankful for the Godly upbringing we were given, and the knowledge of God and His truths that were laid as a foundation for us in our lives. Now we face the daunting task of laying that foundation for our boys and putting Christ on display for them. We have been blessed with going to parenting classes here at church the last many weeks, and these have been an encouragement to our relationship with God, each other, and our children.

Jobsite

  • So much work has happened since our last update, it’s hard to know where to start! The crew is currently installing door frames and doors, drywalling the foyer that connects the old/new building. Waiting on the rooftop HVAC to finish.
  • This building has come together by the grace of God and generosity and labor of many. There are those who come on a near daily basis to give of their time and energy. A business donated all the tape for mudding. 3 different teams have come out in the last many months to come alongside this body of believers and build the church building. So many details we could write a book, all pointing to the glory of God. It is humbling to get to be a part of this process.
  • June 8-10th we had the neat opportunity to take a small team from here at Grace Baptist Church in Canton out to Galilean Baptist Church in Fairmont, West Virginia, to come alongside a body of believers there and do a re-roofing job. God provided us clear weather and safety and the crew worked hard long days to finish the job. Another beautiful way to see the connection we have in Christ and getting to serve one another.

Abby’s corner

  • As the months pass by we mark the passing of time with our 3rd anniversary May 9th, my birthday May 12th, and now Paul’s 2nd birthday June 16th. Though time is flying faster than I want, I am reminded of eternity where we who believe will be with Christ forever and not have to mark the passing of time or watch loved ones get older and fade. The heart aches when goodbyes are said this side of heaven, but there is a deeper joy that rests in the fact that eternity waits with open arms as this world fades away.

Financial Support

  • At 90% support, it is awesome to continue to see God’s daily provision. As the cost-of-living increases, we are all the more thankful for the sacrificial giving you, our partners, have committed.
  • A bundle of shingles costs $45. The last of our financial need is 15 bundles worth.  It’s overwhelming to picture that God has provided 126 shingle bundles worth already! And now we reach for the final stretch of 15 bundles worth to be able to be full-time on the jobsite. Please be in prayer for us as we are needed on the jobsite full-time, and yet need to reach this goal.

Praise

  • 90% financial support
  • The opportunity and blessing of taking a team to Galilean Baptist Church to reroof.
  • Provision for allergy treatment for Abby to help with her food allergies

Prayer

  • VBS June 25-29th
  • Transitions coming up when this jobsite is finished.
  • Parenting challenges

Travels

  • July 9th Mogadore Baptist Church, Mogadore OH

Miguel and Ana Marie Quintana – church planters serving Hispanics (Iglesia Bautista) through Starkey Road Baptist Church in Seminole, FL

Prayer requests:

  1. The new immigration rule has meant that families already in legal proceedings had to leave Florida.
  2. For the necessary process to establish the Hispanic church and become independent.
  3. For salvation for doctors Jimena and Carlos.
  4. David needs to get a job related to his video editing and graphic design career.
  5. Jonathan and Abigail Quintana – for their new plans next year to return to the USA to finish their master’s studies in education.

Praises:

  1. That we were able to celebrate her 90th birthday with my mother in Bogota, Colombia.
  2. For dental treatment for my wife in Colombia
  3. For our return to Florida to continue our mission planting the Hispanic church.

Steve and Kristen Wynn – associate church revitalizers serving Constantia Center Baptist Church in Bernhard’s Bay, NY

May is usually a pretty busy month, and this one was no exception! Not only did we celebrate Mother’s Day and several birthdays, the kids also took part in a few special plays and concerts for school. As London and Calvin look forward to summer and then homeschooling in the fall, they are working hard to finish the year well, while also enjoying field trips and other fun activities that the last few weeks of school always bring.

During the last week of school, London will officially “graduate” from elementary school during a special ceremony. Calvin also had a great report at the doctor concerning his elbow and was released to play sports and go to recess! He was very relieved to hear this since both kids have signed up to play SAYSO Soccer beginning in late June! London and Calvin are excited to attend Camp Bayouca in July, too.

We are praising the Lord for a productive and safe FBT missions trip to New Mexico! Several church members flew or drove to New Mexico to help a missionary family we support (the Lees) add new roofs to their camp buildings, among other things. Additionally Steve, J, and other youth leaders took many teens to Camp Bayouca at the beginning of May for a youth seminar called “Recharge”. They had a great time! As our Sunday Night Kids and small group activities wind down in June, we are looking forward to having “Franks, Fire, and Fellowship” at FBT on Wednesday nights during July and August!

There is A LOT happening at Constantia Center Baptist Church! During the month of May, members voted to go ahead with the construction plan for the sanctuary and bathrooms, and on May 20, over 30 CCBC and FBT men and women gathered for demolition. Although we had planned for 3 full Saturdays to complete demolition, it was finished in about 6 hours! Praise the Lord for the body of Christ working together! We are so excited for the completion of this project, but we also humbly ask for your prayers during this time–for patience, unity, and wisdom during the process.

Steve wrapped up his sermon series on the “One Anothers” and has begun his summer series on the book of Titus. The adult Sunday school classes are also each beginning a book called “Foundations: Bible Truths for Christian Growth” supplied by Grace Church of Mentor (Ohio). The book covers the basics of the Faith and is great for new believers as well as seasoned disciplers interested in a new tool for sharing the basics.
Steve and many others are working on an extension plan in order for us to stay a little while longer at CCBC as they continue to search for a pastor. We appreciate your prayers for wisdom as all of those details get worked out. As well, please continue to pray for the church’s search committee as they work diligently on finding a pastor. They have received 3 applications so far!

Our family is looking forward to a period of rest and relaxation once the kids are officially out of school! We plan to vacation June 26-July 9. We plan to take a couple short trips during that time, but we also are excited to spend some quality time at home together.

Praises

  • Praise the Lord for Sunday School continuing at Constantia Center Baptist.
  • Join us in praising God for our 39 partnering families!
  • Praise God for our five partnering churches – Constantia Center Baptist Church, Faith Baptist Tabernacle, Faith Bible Church, Smyrna Baptist Church, and West Smyrna Baptist Church.
  • Praise God for five churches considering partnering with us – Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ames, NY, Grace Baptist Church in Binghamton, NY, Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ithaca, NY, Glen Baptist Church in Watkins Glen, NY, and Fosterburg Baptist Church in Bethalto, IL.

Pray for the leadership and members of the church as they seek to boldly proclaim Christ and live out the one anothers.

Wayne and Shanna Dale – church planters ministering at Grace Baptist Church in Scottsdale, AZ

We never know what the next day brings.  It is a blessing to know that God is sovereign and guides our steps.  In June we took a redeye flight to NY to visit Wayne’s dad and report at a supporting church.  The trip included a lack of sleep, and a lack of clean air to breathe due to the Canadian forest fires.   However, we were blessed by the improved health of Wayne’s dad, and the encouragement of seeing many friends from ODBC in upstate NY.  It was encouraging to catch up with Pastor Dave and Naomi Deleon, and Dr. David and Kathy Little.  We were grateful for Paul and Laura providing a place to stay, and for allowing Simon to fish in the pond (1 Thess 3:6-8).

Attendance has been lower this summer as many flee to cooler temps, but we have seen many faithful at services and at our men’s and ladies Bible Studies.  We have also had a new family begin attending which is a direct answer to prayer. They have two young children with another due in December and we also have some young women in the church who are due near the end of the year.  The local church grows in many ways!  Please continue to pray for the air conditioning units as we have had to order new units and they will not arrive for almost 6 months.  The cost is $50K with a pastor friend doing the duct work and installation.  We are praying that our present units endure the sweltering 110+ degrees that have arrived.  We also have surprise repairs at church that occur and we are thankful for members who help out.  Recently an AC compressor went, bathroom repairs were needed in two lavatories, and an electrical issue caused us to lose our auditorium lights (2 Cor 4:17).

Happy to help the members of the church fellowship in spite of health issues.  Cancer treatments and age can be debilitating, but enabling believers to have time together can provide joyful home visits (1 Thess 5:11).

We thank God for providing us a house, and we thank God for experienced friends and volunteers who have helped repair and maintain that home.  We recently have had a dishwasher issue, mold issue, car repairs and now a garage door that does not function because of a broken belt.  A friend recently came and blessed us with a new dishwasher and helped with some pressing repairs (Phil 4:19).

Family is a blessing from God.  Rylee is counseling at the Wilds in NH for the summer.  Gloria is enjoying her last summer before going to college.  Claire got her license, and works two jobs (boba tea and grocery store), although they have not given her many hours.  Simon is swimming, doing some summer computer prep classes, and enjoying being a kid.  Shanna is busily teaching English and travelling with her mom to attend a niece’s wedding in MI.  Wayne is helping to facilitate repairs at Shanna’s mom’s home, and trying to keep up on vehicle and home repairs.  We are thankful for a knowledgeable unsaved neighbor that is a huge help. We went out for dinner to thank him for his help.  God places people around us who encourage us (Heb 10:24).

A year ago we were unsure about the future of this ministry and God has brought people and given us a future.  Please pray for maturity and stability as we seek to disciple and train men and women to serve Jesus Christ.  Please continue to pray for committed individuals to serve and provide an infrastructure or for God to provide salvation opportunities and new believers to be trained.  We pray for new contacts other evangelistic opportunities. To God be the glory.

 SALT (Senior Adults Living Triumphantly)

John and Willie Mae Williams – We are thankful for God’s grace and that He cares daily for us. Since I do not drive too much, I (Willie Mae) continue to talk by phone with a shut in who is in her 90’s. I talked with her earlier this month, but she did not remember me. Please pray for her. Members of First Baptist Church take me to church services each week which is a blessing. Sometimes we still wear masks, but I am thankful so far I have not caught covid-19. We have an awesome God. John is about the same. His memory has not gotten better, and some days he remembers more than others. I walk inside the building to see him each day. We have lunch together. He has trouble staying awake, so I feed him most days. I am thankful I can do that and can visit him each day. John is in long-term care and does rehab 3 or 4 days per week. He has recovered well from his hip surgery but does not walk much. He can still have visitors, but he may not remember them. But it is good for him to see people. We are thankful he has not fallen any more. Please pray that God will work through the staff and continue to take care of him. By the time you receive this, John will have turned 90 years old. Praise God!

In April our family celebrated our 70th anniversary with us. We had 4 of our children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 of our great-grandchildren come visit. We had siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends also come celebrate with us. People traveled from Arizona, Florida, Washington, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Georgia. We had a great time and appreciated everyone who came to celebrate with us. We received so many cards from so many people from across the country.

Janet Paton –  As II Corinthians 9:8, states, God’s grace is abundant and provides everything that we need. Please praise Him and join in prayer with me for the items listed below.

PRAISE AND PRAYER REQUESTS:

  • In my last letter, I had asked for prayer for my decision on a church to fellowship with. I have joined my daughter’s church and am enjoying the ministry and fellowship, as well as opportunities to get to know new people. Please pray for the church as they are currently looking for a new pastor after the previous one passed away unexpectedly last fall.
  • I look forward to the possibility of getting involved in the AWANA ministry in the fall. I attended a child safety class required by the church and was thankful for the reminder of how we need to be vigilant in our care of little ones.
  • I am also praising the Lord for healing for a physical issue. Medication helped get the enzymes back into normal range and all seems well at this time.
  • The Lord granted an opportunity to assist with the Children’s Clothing Closet at the church. This ministry shares clothing, diapers, and other baby/child needs with the community, completely based on donations. We sort clothes and then set up tables every other month and invite those in need to come and take what they need. What a blessing to be able to serve the Lord in this way!
  • We so enjoyed my grandson Andrew’s wedding to his love, Rebekah. It was a joy to hear the vows they wrote to each other – they were so honoring to the Lord and to each other! My oldest brother, Norman, was able to fly in from California to attend and spent a week with us. Please pray for him – his wife of 56 years passed away recently.
  • One of my granddaughters, Kandice, graduated this year, and we just celebrated her open house. She would like to study midwifery, so I would appreciate your prayers for God’s direction in her life as she takes the next steps in her future.

I want to end this letter by thanking you for continually praying for me as I am trusting the Lord to give wisdom and direction for my life. I am always grateful for His guidance and help.
