Dear Praying Friends,
Summer is into full swing! As we open our letter we want to share a very heartfelt request…..Utah has numerous wild fires going right now. We had a very warm and dry winter and spring. Fires are a normal thing here in the west but the extra dryness has made the ability to get these fires under control very difficult. The valley is filled with smoke from these fires and people are encouraged to stay inside because of the unhealthy air. The high temperatures aren’t helping the battle either as we are consistently in the mid to high 90’s all this week. Please pray for safety for those fighting the fires and safety for those in the fires’ paths.
A group of 7 teen guys and 3 leaders from Oskaloosa, IA came to put on VBS for us. They were truly a blessing and did a wonderful job…puppets, music, games and a lot of enthusiasm. We had 13 young people registered which was an encouragement to us as some of our regular kids had conflicts and weren’t able to attend. Please pray as we try to follow up on some of these families.
Bob and Pastor Ron were able to take the group to the Christian Institute that gives good input on the fundamentals of mormonism and then they took the group to Temple Square in Salt Lake City to see the “glory” of the LDS faith.
The group worked hard on some projects around the venue where Mt. View Baptist Church meets. It was hot and hard work but we heard no complaints. They were a true encouragement to both the Ehmanns and us.
July and August are filling up with camps. Bob is planning on being up at UtiBaCa for the 3 weeks of horsemanship camps again. Please pray for the young people that come to the camps to have hearts open to hear the teaching from God’s Word and see their need for Christ in their lives.
Each year we are seeing more and more fundamental LDS young people coming for the horse camps. This is a polygamous group from Colorado City, AZ. Their leader, Warren Jeffs, is still in prison but has followers that are trying to keep the group together.
Recently we heard the testimony of one young man , Russell, who left that community and found the Lord. He shared how he had 5 moms and 65 (siblings/half siblings) and the difficulties of living that life style. God has truly worked in a great way to bring him to salvation. He is going to serve on the camp staff this year. We are praying that God will give him openings with some of the campers that are still in that life style and they can see how God has changed him. Please pray for wisdom for him as he grows in Christ and serves.
We are working to encourage Ana to go to horsemanship camp again this year. She just graduated high school and her parents are divorcing so her world is very troubling right now. Bob is having more and more opportunities to talk to her about the Lord. She loves horses so we are praying she will go up for a week of camp and be in the midst of more gospel truth.
Bob loves being up at camp. He love teaching the kids and interacting with them but please pray for him as this heat drains him quickly and that he will know when to get away to rest. These weeks take a lot out of him.
We praise that Lord that Preston has come to accept Christ as his savior. He is now meeting with Bob and is wanting to follow in believer’s baptism. Preston came to us on his own. He saw our sign as he drove by and decided to visit. His parents are very active in the LDS church and Dad has a job within the church. This is a big step for him and it will not be easily accepted as it becomes known among friends and family. Rejoice with us but pray for him also as he makes this stand for Christ.
Please continue to pray for our outreach to Karen, Robert, Traci, Ana, and Nathan. They have heard the Truth. They just need to decide if they can accept it or not. The pull of the LDS religion is hard and there is a lot to lose if they walk away from it.
Please pray for Todd, Adriane, and their two boys, TJ and Devin. God is opening up more opportunities to work with them and they are cracking the door for Gospel conversations.
Thank you for your prayers and support. We are thankful to know so many are lifting us up in prayer. We know God will do things in His time. We just need to be patient.
Happy 4th of July! Praise God we still have many freedoms to be thankful for!
