Winter Update

Our Christmas…

Christmas was extra magical this year as our kiddos started to really enjoy activities and anticipate Christmas Day!

Liam discovered the joy in giving gifts. He loved wrapping his toys to give us presents. And he was quick to include “thank you for our presents” in his prayers.

Jessa loved baking and creating tea parties for her family and friends to enjoy!

Janelle enjoyed leading the Christmas program this year at church.

Stephen enjoyed having friends over and smoking yummy food!

As a family we enjoyed reading Luke 2 for our Christmas Eve Service and spending Christmas Day with friends that have become family!

Current Updates:

Church Leadership

Our church has been without an active elder team since June. In December, our inactive Lead Teaching Elder resigned. Please pray for him and his family as they follow God’s leading in their life. The first week of January, we approved and voted in a new lay elder. This month, Stephen was approved to be an elder by the pulpit committee. The church will be voting February 1st on officially placing Stephen as an elder. Pray that God will continue to lead our church and give us wisdom on future steps.

Church Growth

  • One of the families that recently left the LDS church, came to Christ, and they are so excited to grow. Not only are they coming, but they are bringing family and friends each week.

  • Two other families are coming because they are both searching for answers.

  • We are planning to have over another family that has left the LDS church and seeking God. Their teenage son has come to Christ and has spent some time talking with Stephen. Stephen is planning to take him through the new believer’s study.

Janelle had an LDS neighbor ask about our Ladies’ Bible Studies and she also invited our family to over to dinner. Sadly, because of her child’s health we haven’t been able to get together yet, but we are hoping to spend time with them in the future. Janelle hosted the December playdate with some LDS moms and loved finding out that one of the ladies at church is also investing in one of the moms.

Adult Sunday School started back up and we are studying the book of Jonah.

Discipleship

Janelle

  • involved in a Bible Study were she is being mentored by a lady from our mission

  • leading a Bible Study with the leadership ladies in our church

  • leading a young lady in a Bible Study focused Waiting on God

  • planning play dates with young moms to spend time together

Stephen

  • leading Bible Study in the book of Daniel with the Senior teen guys

  • leading a new believer’s Bible study

  • participating in a bi-weekly Men’s Bible Study

  • leading youth group Bible study on Wednesday nights “What is Biblical Truth”

  • creating connections with men outside of church

We love connecting with our youth.
Recently, we were able to have them over for lunch and games!

We rent our church building and recently lost our upstairs multi-purpose room (jr church, Wednesday night Kids club/ Youth room) due to the landlord needing it for a new rental space. Our landlord is currently working on creating a new space for us – please pray that God will work out the details as we are now sharing a makeshift room that was used as a hallway, or that God will open the doors to a building we can call our own!

Pray!

Pray for our church family that we will grow closer to Jesus through this season of change.

Pray for our new families that are searching that they would find Christ.

Pray for another family that is hurting that God would comfort them and bring their loved ones back to Christ.

Pray for opportunities in our community to be a light! Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Thank you for praying,

Stephen and Janelle Jespersen
