Hello Prayer Partners!
Steve joined fellow BCP missionaries Jon Jenks and Marty Basinger at Bible Baptist Church in New Hartford, NY on June 20-21. It was a sweet time of worship, fellowship, diving into Scripture, and prayerfully reflecting on God’s mission for the church – and for each of us!
Recently on Facebook, BCP posted the following quotes from other revitalization weekends: “This wasn’t just a leadership retreat. It was a church-wide jumpstart.” That’s what we keep hearing from churches after a BCP Revitalization Weekend. Lay leaders. Parents. Longtime members. First-time attenders. Everyone caught the vision—together.
“It gave us a shared vocabulary and tools that actually helped us align.” “We’re no longer just attending church. We’re building it, living it, and inviting others in.”

What’s in progress?
We’re in our fourth month of revitalization at West Smyrna Baptist Church. Join us in praising the Lord for all He is accomplishing in His church:
- We are continuing to pray for the Lord to provide West Smyrna’s next pastor.
- We have developed a process for identifying and preparing men from the church for pastoral or missions ministry. The church unanimously approved it this past Sunday.
- We crossed the halfway point of our Foundations Study.
- We met for our second Celebration of Prayer service – this time outside with hotdogs and s’mores!
- We are continuing our new sermon series in James, “Wisdom for the Church.”
- Steve has begun some discipleship/book studies with men in the church.
We met for our second Celebration of Prayer in the pavilion. Deacon Linn White preached in our James sermon series. Progress is continuing in the parsonage renovation – floors are in the bathroom and cabinets in the kitchen.
Our Senior Banquet at FBT, our last Youth Group for the year, and our youth praise band leading worship.
Some praises with Faith Baptist Tabernacle:
- We wrapped up youth group for the year with our Senior Banquet! The kids had a great time – good food, laughing, honoring our seniors, hearing a challenge from Scripture, and bowling.
- We are grateful for all of our youth leaders who serve to make our youth group happen!
- Our teens ran the entire worship service on June 29! You can view the recording here.
Keep praying for our youth group, especially that the teens will be consistent in the Word over the summer months and that our leaders will plan a great schedule for the coming year.
Kristen and the kids took Steve out mini-golfing for Father’s Day. We had a garage sale – complete with lemonade and cookies! Our family visited the Wallace family for their oldest son’s birthday. We’ve enjoyed riding on the four wheeler and teaching the kids how to operate it safely.

- Steve is serving in an advisory capacity for the upcoming capital campaign.
- Steve and J. are developing a workshop for Family Camp.
